Ellas Otha Bates, known to the world as Bo Diddley, was considered by many to be the originator of rock and roll. He designed the Rhumba style called “hambone” and “Shave and a haircut, two bits.” Diddley’s style was later duplicated by artist Elvis Presley and later sampled by U2, George Michael and Heavy D. Diddley once said that his largest regret was the royalties he never received from artist samples.

During our summer vacation in Pasadena, CA our father would my sister and I .50 cents a piece. We would pool our money and walk over to "Good Deal Records" and by a record for a dollar. The very first one we decided was worth spending our money for to co-own was a Bo Diddley record. I cannot remember the name but it started out with "Diddley, diddley, diddley Da-Dy"
He should have been recognized for way more than he was. Jimmy Reed is another I love that didn't get the recongnition he deserved.

He was an accomplished violinist and trombone player. How little we know about the people we like. I remember my parents dancing to Bo Diddley.

I wasn't born or thought about in 55. I entered this journey in 58. But I appreciate and respect Bo Diddley music.

even in the 1960's Jimi Hendrix had to bring his talent to Europe, thats because he was being ignored due to his skin colour
